McCulloch 73

Postby CMNSW » Jul 25th, '10, 09:41

Hi,

This post is in relation to OMG's question regarding an old McCulloch Model 73 I managed to secure a deal on about a month ago. This old saw is in pretty good shape, and hopefully is well and truly on its way to Australia from the US. I am looking forward to getting hold of the giant, just to see how heavy she really is, as I have heard horrendous reports about these saws and their weight.

Here are some pics of the saw as sent by the previous owner.

Regards,

Chris.

A pretty little baby, Chris. :))

I've seen variations on the air intake and filter on these, but not exactly that one.

When she gets there, please let us know the exact details about that a/f set-up.

Heap big happy :!: :!:

Interesting comments about the filter set up OMG - I thought that this one was pretty standard from looking at the IPL. I will have a detailed look when it arrives ( I checked the delivery status today and it is in the country!) to see what I can find.

Chris

Congratulations on getting a Mcculloch 73 and enjoy!

I have a Mcculloch 73A. Has a different petrol tank, but otherwise very similiar. Wait till you pick it up - I would hate to use it all day.

Mine has a 28" bar and 9/16" Mcculloch nearly new chain. A beast of a thing and a real talking point in a collection.

Due to some bad news regarding the shipping of my saw - it looks as though I will be waiting alot longer before the model 73 arrives.

The saw actually made it to the mailing centre of my home town - however due to some issues with the address on the package, it was deemed undeliverable and sent back to the U.S!!!!!!! The other frustrating thing about this whole ordeal is that it is being returned via ship - so who knows when it will get back to the original owner, who in turn will have to resend it to me. :.(

I can only hope that the saw is still in good shape - if I do eventually receive it.

Chris.

Well Chris sorry to read of your situation it's a pain you know where.

I have stopped importing saws because of my importer who is bent on frigging me around ie: a Mall 7 two man saw i bought off Natalie Amber last January i'm still waiting on and was told last monday it still hasn't been loaded in LA.

I'm sick of this wanker putting me off so no more importing.

Well Bob - I hope you can get that Mall sorted out. I can definitely understand your decision to cease importing saws in bulk through that guy, as he is certainly giving you the rough end of the stick.

I can tell you - I will be glad if and when this ordeal is over, and I have my Mac at home with me in one piece!

I have plenty of others to keep me company in the meantime which is a good thing

Hope you are travelling okay with your health Bob.

Chris.

Sorry to hear that Chris, I cant think of anything more frustrating, I'm sure you will have a few choice words for the seller, most of my transactions go well but there's always the odd fool to ruin my day.
