PA GTG spring 2010

Just a heads up that nwpalumberjack friend is going to put together a chainsaw racing type gtg in spring 2010. Should give plenty of time to prepare.

No date or saw classes is set yet but has been in Ohio in the past in mar - apr. Might be a little early for up there with the snow belt.




(( Anybody interested in a get together in NW Pennsylvania next spring? It would be 45 minutes south of Erie PA. I'm thinking a racing GTG probably hot starts on the ground or over the wood. Some Big Wood for Al. I thought maybe Pennsylvania would be a good place to mix some PA NY and Ohio boys up, maybe even a Weasel from Idaho. Let me know your thoughts, nothing set in stone yet. Just an idea, plus I thought this would give Al and Kevin time to get there arsonal ready. ))

Classes Top handle, 3, 4, 5, 6, and unlimited Chaps or Pants Required to Cut!!

All classes 3 cuts in 8x8 except Top handle will be 2 cuts. Run any fuel, we will keep alky times separate.

Meatball subs for lunch, some help with extras, chips etc. would be nice.

Since this is the gtg I used to do. I know the rules. This is a laxed racing gtg to bring in new blood. No entry fees so no pay outs.

Also a Vintage class, no cut off date was given, but when I did the gtg it was 1979.

Any fuel gas mix allowed, ALKY fuels can be run but will be kept with a asterisk beside them to separate them from the gas mixture saws.

Saw classes top handle 0-40cc 2 cuts in 8x8 poplar hot start over wood

All others 8x8 poplar 3 cuts hot start over wood for guys to learn.

3ci = 49cc but 0-51cc so NE 346, Jred 590 and 5100 can race in 3ci class

4ci 0-65cc

5ci 0-81cc

6ci 0-100cc

6ci= 100cc - unlimited

Vintage saws any size

All muffler saws, no classes for pipe saws.

Every saw there will be muffler modded, woods ported or race ported . Only a few stock ones might not be muffler modded yet.

yes. i live about
30 miles south of spartansburgh. this would be my first , so i dont know if i should enter a couple saws, or just see what the compitition will be first.

Heck yeah you need to run all the saws you can.

First gtg I went to I showed up with a poulan 2000, poulan 220, poulan 305, poulan 330, poulan 3750, all stock with muffler mods only and brand new what I thought was sharp and ready stihl RS chain. What a learning experience that was and some of the best people I ever met around chainsaw there that day. Gypo logger aka John, Al Smith, woodsjunke, R. Helsel, Big Dave Neiger, Craig Helsel, Chainsaw-57, etc etc. I was new blood then.
