....sorry a 70 mm bore and 40 mm stroke will be 154 cc. (35x35xпx40 = 154 cc.)

Marco, Why not put the 66mm or 70mm on a 48mm stroke  . Seen one with a 66mm on a 48mm and she was pretty fast. If that is what you are after big cc and fast and that way you save some cash not having to stroke the other crank.

dear cut4fun,
I'd like to ask you if you have seen a 48 mm stroke 090? was this a crankcase from another chainsaw (if it is wich one?) or a 090 modified one?
if it is the cylinder must be completely different in port windows and waste windows as 48 mm stroke oblige you to raise the conventional cylinder of about 4 mm and porting will be too extreme.
I think also there will be problem between the crankcase and crankshaft encumbrance.
My idea was only little raise in stroke (42 mm) and so raise the cylinder windows only 1 mm. This is a way used also in tuned piaggio vespa (an italian scooter) changing the chrankshaft axle. In this way waste and port phases will allow about 8000-9000 rpm without upsetting the cylinder (I've done my calculation). I've done this in the past on motorcycle engines and will work: raising the cylinder (with gaskets) you'll raise windows, extend phases, increase rotation= more power.
Thank you all!!

I belive Kevin is talking about a 166 with a 090 jug. The 166 is a long stroke.

Let me think about...May be....if you cut the head of a 090 cylinder (make an hole, big as the bore, on the head), you can extend the cylinder height a little bit and fit it with the optimal windows height (you're not obliged by the presence of a fixed head). After you'll built a removable head, as the ones in the pictures. May be this is way the head is modified in such tuned 090.
In this way, in effect 66mm bore x 48 mm stroke= 164 cc = 10 cu inch!!!!!
I think this is the way!!!
The only problem is to find a 48 mm stroke crankshaft (or to modify the original!)
Any idea?
Let me ask to a friend of mine, who works on lathes.
Marco

Fantastic pictures!!!!
The bore is of sure more than 66, maybe 70 mm (stroke 40mm?)
Is in your opinion a modification of a normal 090 cylinder/head (enlarging the bore, removing head, new piston, new head...) or a new special kit?
If so any specification to modify the original or to rebuilt a new kit?
Please cannot take some of the inner and the bottom part of this cylinder?
Is the crankshaft from a contra (see removable rod and 1-step cylinder lodging)?

Thank you from Italy!!!!
Marco

after I took the pics I put the saw back where I found it so he woudnt notice I had played with it

The bore might be 76mm as you can see a 66mm sitting in it,

It appears to be a original bottom end but can not confirm without a further tear down.

The only diff from a stock saw looks like the cylinder and piston.

as you can see in these pics there is a lot of finger porting done to this custom built cylinder.

the piston's single L ring configuration is not common in saws and could be from bike or other source.

this saw does look like it would still run but I could not locate a gas can to try it :hairpull:

Thank you for the info!!!
Scaling down the picture )referring to 66 mm piston) my result is about 70 mm bore.
What do you mean with "finger porting", I don't know the translation in Italian but what i know, working on motorbike 2 stroke engines is that there are porting/waste windows and channels in the cylinders.
Have you got a broken 090 cylinder (or, better, a 10 cu inches kit, but i think is rare as platinum) or how to find it? I'll try to overbore an original broken 090 and obtain a 10 cu inches one. Here in Italy 090, like contras or 070 are very rare, mines came from Germany....

Thank you

If you'll able to rebuilt some of these special cylinder/piston/head let me know, I'm interested in having one or two!!!
If not I'll try to modify an original 090....
Thanks

does it look like it has a stock carb on that thing. from the looks of the porting work ( in my limited knowledge ) that thing looks like it was set up to need a bigger than stock huff of fuel to run with out leaning out ,
